Victor Nieuwenhuijs studied Politics at the University of Amsterdam, then painting and photography at the Ateliers '63 and film at the Free Academy in The Hague with Dutch experimental filmmaker Frans Zwartjes. In 1986 Victor Nieuwenhuijs and Maartje Seyferth started to co-operate as filmmakers and founded MOSKITO FILM to produce their films. Their films are now part of the collection of the Dutch Film Museum. In 2008 they founded Plexus Film Productions in Rotterdam. Plexus co-produced "Crepuscule" in 2009 and "Meat" in 2010. Both films premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
